Pathways out of Poverty

11 November 2011 - Winter Gardens, Weston-super-Mare

Board Members of the North Somerset Partnership have been invited to attend this Child Poverty Conference.

Whilst the local area is known for its high quality of schools and most children benefit from a secure path into adulthood, there is still a significant gap between the outcomes of children and young people who are poor and those who are not.

Working in collaboration with agencies who support children and families, 'Pathways out of Poverty' will focus on 'what we can practically do to improve outcomes for children who live in poverty across North Somerset'.

Speakers will include Dr Tess Ridge, Senior Lecturer at Bath University and International Policy Advisor on child poverty and social exclusion from a child's perspective, and Dr Charlotte Carter-Wall, National Adviser to Government, Schools and Local Authorities on improving educational outcomes for children and young people who are economically deprived.
