Infrastructure & Local Economy Board
This new Board brings together infrastructure, regeneration, business, skills and environmental issues.
Its responsibilities are largely non-statutory but it will be required to have a strong influencing function both locally and with colleagues working on a sub-regional basis.
Its work is both complementary and influential in relation to the development of the new West of England Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
The new Board's responsibilities includes:
- Signing off the Local Economic Assessment
- Developing an Infrastructure and Local Economy Strategy which reflects place, business and skills
- Supporting and providing input to the Local Development Framework
- Overview of transport infrastructure plans
- Overseeing delivery of performance reward grant projects
- Driving up performance
The outcome of these responsibilities will be to achieve:
- Increased business confidence in North Somerset
- A significant increase in the number of local jobs
- Increased employment opportunities for the long-term unemployed
- Development of a workforce with skills that businesses need
- Improved transport infrastructure
- A reduced carbon footprint for North Somerset
- Reduced amount of waste going to landfill
- Address environmental concerns
Membership
There are no statutory membership requirements for this Board. Membership of this Board will be determined in accordance with the outcomes it aims to acheive.
